There are two XLs in the photos, which have been stored in my personal vault for a bit more than 20 years. They are both mint or pristine.
I cant tell them apart. The outer scales are unhandled and have their original luster. The blades are unused and very shiny. I cannot see any scratches or scuffs. Like any Victorinox product, with a bright light and a magnifying glass, it is likely that one can find micro-sized imperfections resulting from both the manufacturing process and long-term storage. I have never owned a Victorinox product that was truly 10 out of 10. If you bought new scales and put them on, they would not look as good as these. Just by pressing on the new ones, you would likely cause some age marks.
The latter three pictures showing the tools are stock photos from the well-known SAK wiki. If you dont know about the wiki, Google SAKwiki.According to the SAK wiki The SwissChamp XL is a very large Swiss Army Knife made by Victorinox. It extends the already large tool selection of the eight layer SwissChamp by adding another three layers containing the spatula, electrician's blade/small pruner blade and the divot tool This knife was manufactured, in limited numbers, only between 1999 and 2000 (source SAAMs), and is therefore relatively uncommon and collectible the XL model was replaced by the SwissChamp XLT around that time Further, I can tell you that it was only available in Europe and never marketed to the USA. This is the end of the line for the Swisschamp XL. This is the only one for sale on the entire planet.
People who already own them are not going to give them up. As soon as you actually use it, it will lose about one third of its value. This means if you put the knife in your pocket or pouch, the handles will sufficiently scuff such that it will no longer be considered pristine. So, don't do it!
Given the age of these knives, I do not guarantee the viability of their pens. This is a standard, easily replaced part. The knives are heavy and the boxes are made of thin cardboard. Each box arrived crushed with ample knife oil stains. The box was the type that held the knife at an angle.
